Choose one daytime stop and one cinema rather than turning the city’s cultural life into a checklist.
El Ateneo Grand Splendid is the obvious room to look up in, but the shelves deserve attention too. The Museo del Libro y de la Lengua offers a different question: how books and language participate in the country’s culture. Choose it for the exhibition currently on, not as a second bookshop.
