There is no obligation to see everything. Let one room, one painter or one unfamiliar picture become the reason for your visit, then leave the rest for another day.
General entry is free; some temporary exhibitions are ticketed separately. Enter through the Sainsbury Wing. You can book a free ticket or arrive without one. Check the museum’s floorplan if a particular work matters to your visit. On 6 October 2026 the east wing closes at 17:00, while the rest of the gallery stays open until 18:00. The cover shows the interior dome in 2025.
