A place worth knowing
Make this the anchor of an afternoon rather than a stop to squeeze in. Move between the galleries and courtyards, then give the garden a little of the time you might otherwise spend rushing to the next address.
Admission is free, but a timed-entry reservation is required. The Villa normally opens 10:00–17:00 and closes on Tuesdays. Parking is paid separately. This is the Getty Villa in Pacific Palisades, not the Getty Center in Brentwood.
Annual closures include New Year’s Day, 4 July, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Check the official calendar and reserve before setting off. The photograph shows the outer peristyle garden in October 2010.
