Our take

Carved wood, bevelled mirrors and mosaics make Bouillon Racine an architectural stop as well as a restaurant. Opened in 1906, it later served the university community before a restoration returned attention to its Art Nouveau rooms.

The kitchen focuses on French cooking, with the Sorbonne and Odéon nearby. Choose it when the setting is part of the meal, and allow a moment to look around rather than treating it as a quick refuelling stop.
