A place worth knowing
Make a selection before you arrive: one gallery, one material, one period that interests you. A focused visit leaves space to look closely without turning the collection into a race.
Standard adult collection admission is ¥1,000; special exhibitions have separate tickets which also include the collection on that day. Collection entry is free on 21 September and 3 November 2026, but that does not make every exhibition free. Regular opening is 09:30–17:00, with Friday and Saturday evenings until 20:00 and additional holiday changes. Last entry is 30 minutes before closing.
Consult the official calendar for Monday holidays, maintenance and partial gallery closures. The year-end closure is 26–31 December 2026; opening hours for 1 January 2027 are not yet confirmed. Suitcases are not admitted. The cover shows the entrance in 2021.
