Charoen Krung offers a Bangkok afternoon that moves between ideas, objects and lived-in rooms. Start with the kind of visit you want: design research at TCDC, an exhibition by the river or a look at domestic life in the Bangkokian Museum. All three belong to the wider Bang Rak area, but each has its own pace and access rules.
If the museum houses are central to your plan, put them earlier in the day and check their closing time. TCDC is inside the Grand Postal Building; a visit to that building is not automatically access to every resource or service. River City is the place to choose an actual exhibition, with gallery browsing and the river providing the intervals around it.
Keep the route flexible in heat or rain. A map can suggest a short distance without accounting for street crossings, uneven pavements or the time spent finding an entrance. Take a break between buildings and use local transport if walking stops being enjoyable. This is a cultural afternoon, not a timetable to complete.
Check current visitor information before leaving, especially on Mondays and around public holidays. Exhibition tickets, resource-centre membership and refreshments are separate decisions. The linked place records carry the canonical addresses, source links and any known hours, so practical corrections can follow the places wherever they appear.
Bangkokian Museum
Begin with the scale of a home rather than a monument. The preserved houses tell a domestic story around the years before and after the Second World War. Make this the earlier stop if you want to see the interiors, then step back into the surrounding streets.
TCDC Bangkok
Choose TCDC for design ideas and the specialist resource centre in the Grand Postal Building. Decide whether you are visiting an exhibition or want to use research facilities, then check the relevant access or membership arrangement. The architecture and the institution are related but distinct attractions.
River City Bangkok
Finish with a show that interests you, rather than treating the entire building as a single exhibition. Galleries, antiques and changing displays offer different reasons to browse. Check admission for the specific show and leave a little time to watch the river before moving on.
