A place worth knowing

Pak Khlong Talat brings the colours and scents of Bangkok’s flower trade to the streets near the Chao Phraya. Lotus flowers, orchids and jasmine sit alongside garlands made for offerings, while produce stalls add another layer to the market.

Walk slowly enough to notice the flower arrangements and the work behind each stall. Ask before photographing people at close range and leave space for deliveries: this is a place of everyday trade as well as a rewarding stop on a riverside walk.
