A place worth knowing
Choose an exhibition first, then leave time for the building and the riverside. The former power station gives contemporary art a different setting from the city’s smaller galleries, and rewards a visit with some room around it.
Shanghai’s official museum guide lists Tuesday to Sunday opening, 11:00–19:00, with last entry at 18:00. Mondays close except on national holidays. Admission depends on the exhibition; do not assume the whole museum is free.
