A place worth knowing
Keep this part of the day deliberately simple. Walk a stretch, stop where the view opens up, and turn back when you have had enough. The skyline is only half the picture: look behind you at the buildings along the road, too.
The public promenade is free to visit. River cruises, the sightseeing tunnel, restaurants and indoor attractions are separate purchases. The tourism office lists access throughout the day; temporary crowd controls can change the route during busy periods. We do not promise a particular lighting-show schedule.
Use East Nanjing Road station as a starting point and choose your own stretch of waterfront. The cover is a Pudong panorama photographed in November 2017, not a live view.
