A place worth knowing
Follow the turns rather than trying to see the whole garden at once. A doorway, a reflection and a change in level can be more memorable than a list of landmarks.
Daytime adult admission is CNY 40 in April–June and September–November, and CNY 30 in the remaining months. Regular hours are Tuesday–Sunday, 09:00–16:30, with last entry at 16:00; Monday closures have public-holiday exceptions. Tickets are available on site or through the official Shanghai Yuyuan WeChat account.
The garden, surrounding malls and night-tour programmes are different experiences with different access rules. A daytime garden ticket does not promise entry to an evening event.
