Seoul over Chuseok: check the day, then the ticket
A free museum day does not mean every building is open. Plan the 2026 holiday around the actual dates and the visit you want.

For MMCA Seoul, the useful dates are 24, 26 and 27 September: admission is free, but you still need a ticket. The museum closes on Chuseok day, 25 September. Leeum and the National Museum of Korea also list a closure that day.
The palace’s Chuseok notice makes ordinary daytime admission free from 24 to 27 September. Its autumn night programme is a separate ticketed visit. At Leeum, free access to the permanent collection does not include every special exhibition.
Start with the date, choose the exhibition or collection, and check the linked official notice before travelling. Restaurant holiday service and club admission follow their own rules. The useful plan is the one whose doors will actually be open.
