A place worth knowing
Start in the Visitor Center and decide how much of the building you want to explore. A short look at the public rooms can be enough; an exhibition or the library’s free audio guide gives the visit another layer. Leave quiet working spaces to the people using them.
The Rose Main Reading Room has separate sightseeing rules: visitors can join a free guided tour or the 10:00–11:00 visiting hour Monday to Saturday, with final entry at 10:50. That is not an all-day sightseeing pass. Check the library’s current building, holiday and exhibition hours before travelling; individual research divisions differ.
